how soon should i send out wedding invitations?

When it comes to the big day, things can get complicated and overwhelming quickly. One of the biggest tasks to handle is wedding invitations. But how soon should you send these out?

There is no hard and fast rule, but some general guidelines will help you avoid sending out your wedding invitations too late. Generally speaking, you should mail out your wedding invites at least 8 weeks before the date of your ceremony. This allows ample time for people to save the date, receive their invitation, and make travel plans if necessary.

If you have a closer timeline, the standard 6 to 8 weeks' time frame is fine, but there are some people you need to notify earlier. Out-of-town guests should receive invitations up to 10 to 12 weeks ahead of time. This will ensure they have more time to book a flight or train ticket, accommodations, and other travel details. Alternatively, if you are having a destination wedding, you should send out your invitations at least 10 to 12 months in advance. This will give your guests plenty of time to save money and plan the necessary vacation days.

A very close family member or friend may also require an earlier invitation. If you are making a special exception for someone, give them anywhere from two to four weeks' lead time. However, it's important to be consistent with everyone else. You don't want to put yourself in a situation where you are giving preferential treatment to one person and not another.
