Dwayne the rock johnson truck

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is well known for his career in the entertainment industry, but did you know that he also used to drive a truck? Johnson once drove an 18-wheeler truck from Nashville to Miami to meet an old wrestling deadline.

The story of "The Rock" behind the wheel of a big rig is one of legend. He was on tour with the World Wrestling Federation when time ran out on meeting a pay-per-view deadline. It didn't matter that he had a flight booked for the next morning, Johnson made an executive decision that could have saved the show. Ditching his flight, he rented a $100 18-wheeler and drove it all night down I-75 towards Miami, where 30,000 people were eagerly awaiting his performance.

As legend has it, The Rock put the pedal to the metal and made it just in time. While most of us would be too intimidated by the intimidating rigs on roadways today, it's amazing that Johnson was able to get behind one and conquer one of his biggest challenges.

In an interview following this feat, Johnson recounted the harsh conditions on this drive through the night—the headwinds that tried to hold him back and tight curves that threatened to send him spinning off course. "It was almost like my last ride as if I were going into battle." Feeling empowered by his accomplishment he likened himself to a pirate who hoisted a Jolly Roger flag upon entering Miami port—relieved, but humbled by what he accomplished in less than 24 hours with nothing but his determination in tow.
